CERAMICA |
CERAMIC |
Ceramica:
Allumina e Quarzo, Inorganico, |
Pottery
(kéramos "clay", "potter's earth")
Inorganic material, non-metallic, ductile in its natural state, rigid
after firing, rigid and brittle following firing, composed of
- Clay, Feldspar, Sand, Iron Oxide, Alumina and Quartz, Inorganic, |
Composizione: |
Composition: |
Struttura molecolare
(Fillosilicati), in presenza di acqua, conferiscono all’Argilla
Molecular
Structure (phyllosilicates), in the presence of water, give the
Clay the Plasticity that facilitates its processing.
Mixture, in addition to the coating,
affects the quality of the ceramic.
Coating, made with glass pastes or paints,
has the function of waterproofing the product, if it has a porous paste. |
Lavorazione a
Pasta Porosa : |
Processing with Porous Paste: |
Materiale Permeabile (Struttura
Reticolare con pori concatenati), se detto:
Vetrinato,
viene rivestito, dopo Cottura, con Smalto, se detto:
Fritta, (Silicati, Carbonati, Nitrati, Coloranti); la
successiva Cottura provoca la fusione della Fritta e, dopo il
Raffreddamento, assume Consistenza Vetrosa |
Permeable Material (Reticular
Structure with linked pores), if Glazed,
is coated, after Firing, with Enamel, called Frit,
based on Silicates, Carbonates, Nitrates, Dyes; the subsequent Firing
causes the fusion of the Frit which, after cooling, takes on a Glassy
Consistency. |
Lavorazione a
Pasta Compatta: |
Compact Paste Processing: |
Presenta
lucentezza alla frattura e impermeabilità (Struttura con Pori chiusi
e non concatenati) e prende il nome di:
Porcellana
Composto da Impasto di Caolino
(Idrosilicato di Alluminio Al2O3·2 SiO2·2 H2O), Quarzo, Feldspato, e Cottura a 1300/1400°C.
(Compatto, a Pasta Tenera o Dura, di Colore Bianco),
e
Grès
Ricavato da Argille di Rocce Sedimentarie ee Cottura a 1200/1350°C
(compatti, variamente colorati e ). |
Presents brightness at the fracture
and impermeability (structure with closed and non-linked pores) and
takes the name of:
Porcelain
Consisting of Kaolin Dough (Al2O3 2 SiO2 2 H2O Aluminum Hydrosilicate),
Quartz, Feldspar, and Firing at 1300/1400°C.
(Compact, Soft or Hard, White in colour), e
Stoneware
Obtained from Sedimentary Rock Clays and Firing at 1200/1350°C (compact,
variously colored and ). |

dell’Impasto ed alla Cottura) |
Other types of
Ceramic Processing:
(in relation to the composition of the dough and the cooking) |
Terracotta:
Variamente colorata e porosa,
Terraglia
Porosa,
bianca (assenti nell’impasto gli Ossidi Coloranti),
Maiolica,
Ceramiche Refrattarie,
Resistenti alle Alte Temperature: la
Refrattarietà cresce all’aumentare dell’Allumina e al diminuire
della Silice. |
Terracotta;
Variously colored and porous,
Earthenware:
Porous and
white (Coloring Oxides are absent in the mixture),
Majolica,
Refractory Ceramics:
Resistant to High
Temperatures: the Refractoriness increases with the increase of Alumina
and with the decrease of Silica. |
Impiego: |
Use: |
In Architettura la Ceramica è utilizzata prevalentemente a scopo
Decorativo.
Con Ceramica si identificano:
- Suppellettili d’uso
domestico, (vasi, , recipienti, statue,
statuette ecc.), e
- Materiali per Edilizia, (Mattonelle, Piastrelle,
Embrici, Coppi, Tegole, Condutture, Rivestimenti, ecc.
- Attrezzature e Utensili Manuali, (Accessori
Igienico-Sanitari, Stoviglie, Piatti, Pentole, Coppe, Ciotole, ecc. |
In Architecture, Ceramics are mainly used for Decorative purposes.
Ceramics identify:
- Furnishings for domestic use (vases, containers,
statues, statuettes, etc.), and
- Building Materials, (Tiles, Tiles, Flat Roof
Tiles, Roof Tiles, Pipes, Coatings, etc.
- Equipment and Manual Tools, (Hygiene-Sanitary
Accessories, Crockery, Plates, Pots, Cups, Bowls, etc. |
